Most "handwriting font" tools turn your handwriting into a font file you install on your computer. PDF 4U Writing skips that step entirely — you write out the alphabet, digits, and a handful of common symbols once, and we use those directly to typeset a brand-new PDF, character by character, in your own hand. There's no font file, no installation, and no upload: the capture, the layout, and the final PDF are all built locally in your browser using the same open PDF-generation library that powers the rest of pdfunli.com's tools.
Because the document is built from scratch rather than edited from an existing file, you're in full control of the title, author, page size, orientation, margins, and every block of content — paragraphs, inserted images, and page breaks — before anything is generated. Frequently asked questions
Do I have to draw every letter?
Yes, the first time — capital letters A–Z, digits 0–9, and common punctuation. It takes most people about a minute or two. Once you save your handwriting file, you never have to draw them again on this device or any other, as long as you keep the file.
Is my handwriting or document ever uploaded anywhere?
No. Every step — drawing, typing, previewing, and generating the final PDF — happens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
Can I use lowercase letters when I type?
You can type in lowercase or uppercase — since only capital letters are captured, lowercase input is automatically rendered using the matching capital letter's handwriting.
Can I add photos to my document?
Yes — use "+ Image" to insert a photo between paragraphs. It's placed at full width, scaled to fit the page.
What happens to my saved handwriting file?
It downloads to your device as a plain .json file containing your drawn letters. Keep it somewhere safe (like your documents folder) and re-upload it here any time to skip straight to writing.
