Is my password ever sent anywhere?
No. The password is used locally in your browser to open the PDF and is never transmitted over the network.
Will the unlocked PDF still have selectable text?
Yes. The unlocked file stays searchable and copyable, even though the page is rebuilt during the unlocking process.
Does this work on any encryption type?
It works on standard PDF password encryption once you supply the correct password. Some unusual or corrupted encryption schemes may fail to open — try the Repair PDF tool first if you suspect file damage.
